Dolmetsch Course Information Page

Travelling by Air

We are still researching information for this section.
However the nearest airports are Cardiff, Bristol and, very much last, Birmingham

Travelling by Rail

The railway station nearest to Llandovery College is Llandovery (in Welsh Llanymddyfri).
The station is a short distance from the college.

Travelling by Road

The full postal address of the school at which the Dolmetsch course will be taking place is:

Llandovery College
Llandovery
Carmarthenshire
Wales SA20 0EE

Accommodation

The course accepts participants whether residential (who board and take all their meals at Llandovery College for the duration of the course) or non-residential (who live within reach of the school, or who choose to board at a local hotel or B&B but take lunch and supper, as provided, on each day of the course).

Local Accommodation

This hotel and these inns are all local and offer bed and breakfast.

  • Castle Hotel
  • The New White Lion
  • Kings Head Inn

    Residential Accommodation

The school offers residental facilities for course participants and our tutors.

    Catering

The school offers special diets, vegetarian options and a choice of hot or cold dishes at every meal. The organisers take particular care to ensure that balanced and enjoyable meals are provided - full English breakfast, "continental" dishes for lunch and dinner, varied salads, and a choice of English desserts. In addition, there are short periods, in the morning for "elevenses" and in the afternoon for tea for those who need extra refreshment!

    General Information

    1. We recommend that participants insure their musical instruments (loss and theft) and bring a music stand
    2. Participants who are normally resident outside the European Union should arrange medical insurance
    3. Residential participants should bring their own bath towel, soap, etc.
    4. Many of the boarding houses have computers connected to the internet - useful if you want to keep in touch with the office, home or with friends
    5. Portable wireless-enabled laptops are welcome - they can connect to the school's network at many places on the campus
    6. There is no charge for using the school's internet connection

    Application

    1. The number of residential participants is limited
    2. Applications are treated on a first come-first served basis
    3. We were filled to maximum capacity in Summer 2007, so we recommend early registration (applications can be made from August 2007)
    4. After 1st June 2008, where a participant cancels his or her application no refund of fees will be possible
    5. You are strongly recommended to arrange insurance in case of cancellation due to illness, etc.
    6. The balance of fees is due on or before 1st June 2008 after which date any reserved accommodation not paid for in full will be re-let

    Payment Options

    1. Payments made in sterling should be by cheque or by electronic transfer to LMFL (please contact us for sterling account details)
    2. Payments in euro should be made by cheque or by electronic transfer to LMFL (please contact us for euro account details)
    3. Payments made from outside the sterling or euro zone may be made by credit card or by electronic transfer to LMFL (in sterling or euro)

    Smoking Policy

In common with all public buildings in England and Wales, Llandovery College has a strict indoors non-smoking policy. Anyone breaking this rule in their bedroom, in the common rooms or buildings used for teaching will be asked to leave the course and there will be no refund of fees
